Exhibition Introduction:
The two creators use the mundane aspects of daily life as their soil. Through walking, observing, feeling, and contemplating, they gradually identify the "symbols" that resonate with their own souls.
This exhibition unfolds a dialogue about the essence of creation through the imagery of "moths" and "bees." Each creator claims the spirit of a different insect—one drawn to light, the other constructing order.
The moth, drawn to fire, embodies a poetic obsession. Born in darkness, it exhausts all efforts to seek the light source, its wings bearing evidence of existence and demise. It struggles and hesitates around the flames, striving to feel life more authentically.
The bee, building its hive, represents gentle order. With compound eyes measuring the world, it uses its body to remember the seasons of blooms. The honeycomb is a convergence of reason and emotion, while honey is the light brewed by time.
These two fundamentally different attitudes toward life converge here, inviting you to approach these works and sense the determination of the moths to fly toward the fire and the accumulation of the bees in making honey. Between wings and honeycombs, awaken your inner phototropism.

Cheong Chan Kit, a Macau-based artist who completed an Art and Creative Design degree in Taiwan, is skilled in acrylic painting, oil painting, and found art. Since returning to Macau in 2020, he has primarily engaged in art education and restoration.
His early artworks explored themes of mythology, religion, and the humanities, reflecting on various possibilities of human origins. Upon entering society, he gained insights from the trivialities of daily life, and his artistic expression gradually shifted from overt religious themes to voicing his inner self. Cheong expresses self-awareness in his artworks through utilising “Moth” as a symbolic motif, an insect with a brief lifespan and phototactic behaviour, as a metaphor for humanity's lifelong search for proof of existence.
Following a period of creative hiatus, Cheong has recently reclaimed his artistic stride, finding a common ground between the expression of overt mythological features and inner voice, turning them into a new and cohesive creative identity.
